The rectangular screen's 16:9 aspect ratio is ideal for watching widescreen sources like HDTV broadcasts (separate HDTV tuner required) and 'anamorphic' DVDs. Over 90% of U.S. households have access to at least one over-the-air digital TV signal, and the networks — especially CBS and ABC — continue to make more HDTV programs available. To receive over-the-air digital broadcasts, you'll need to connect a separate HDTV tuner (click the 'Accessories' tab above). For hookup versatility, the AV-56WP30 offers a total of 5 A/V inputs, including two 'wide-bandwidth' component video inputs. Use one of these inputs to hook up a separate HDTV tuner and see for yourself how HDTV's amazing color, detail, and dimensionality make viewing a far richer experience. Use the other wide-bandwidth input to connect and enjoy maximum performance from a progressive-scan or standard DVD player.
